Spanx for Men invites men to “Expect more from your undershirt!” and promises that this new product will “forever change” the way men look and feel in their clothes. “Squashed” is the word that comes to mind.
As any woman knows, compression undergarments do provide a somewhat slimming effect, but the down side of wearing these spandex-laced, body-contouring garments is that they tend to give you a decidedly uncomfortable “stuffed sausage” feeling. While Spanx offers a full line of body shapers for women to nip and tuck female bodies from the shoulders to the ankles, their new men’s line only offers tummy-slimming undershirts. Given the assumed difference in pain thresholds between the sexes, perhaps that’s just as well. It’s hard to imagine a man slowly inching his way into a pair of compression briefs just to shave an inch off his gut.
The introduction of a spandex underwear line for men does indicate that modern guys have a growing interest in looking good. Whether it’s to level the playing field at work or give themselves an edge on the dating scene, men are more conscious of their figure and more interested in looking good. A
