Remove Excess Skin with Surgery After Weight Loss
Nothing makes you feel better than losing a chunk of weight you’ve been carrying around for too long. Media attention on America’s flabbiness has caused many of us to take a good look in the mirror and embark on a new program to improve our diet and get serious about exercising. NBC’s show The Biggest Loser has inspired many people to tackle their weight problem. It’s inspirational to see these folks struggling each week to overcome the lifelong habits and poor choices that have led to obesity. Cheering them on each week, you find yourself wanting to emulate their example. With each success the contestants achieve, you gain confidence in your own ability to accomplish your weight and fitness goals.
Tuning into America’s interest in the show and our desire to get healthy, quite a few Cleveland area health clubs have begun holding their own “Biggest Loser” competitions to encourage their members to kick it up a notch. And it seems to be working. There’s nothing more empowering than having your friends cheering you on and applauding each accomplishment as you watch your stomach recede and your double chin disappear.
The day you finally reach your goal is a cause for celebration. After all those months of hard work, you look slim, trim and, surprisingly, much younger! You feel fabulous – until you strip down. When you’re young, your skin is elastic and snaps back when you lose weight. But as you slide down the far side of middle age – or if you’ve carried excess weight for a long time -- your skin loses elasticity and doesn’t snap back. Instead of a tight, smooth stomach after all your effort, the mirror reveals an unsightly flap of loose skin hanging off your lower abdomen, casting a pall over your accomplishment.
