More Cleveland Cosmetic Surgery Dos & Don’ts
Cosmetic surgery is a life-changing experience that has helped many people feel more attractive and self-assured. Because it is life-changing, the decision to undergo cosmetic surgery should be carefully considered (see our previous post). Use the following dos and don’ts as a guide in selecting a qualified board-certified Cleveland plastic surgeon:
DO vet the cosmetic surgeon’s credentials and experience. The Cleveland cosmetic surgeon you select should, at minimum, be board certified by both the Ohio State Medical Board and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons to ensure that he has received the proper training to perform complex cosmetic surgery procedures. Preference should be given to plastic surgeons like Dr. Poblete who have achieved membership in the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, an elite, invitation-only, professional organization of the most skilled cosmetic surgeons who are deeply committed to providing the highest quality of patient care.
- DO ask about recovery time and aftercare. Things will go more smoothly when you return home from your cosmetic surgery procedure if you know what to expect and have already enlisted any help you might need. Some cosmetic procedures will barely cause a ripple in your life; but others, such as a full tummy tuck, may require that you not lift heavy objects (or toddlers) for a few days. Having the help you’ll need in place before your procedure will allow for a more comfortable recovery.
- DO ask how much experience the cosmetic surgeon has had performing the specific procedure you are considering. Each cosmetic surgery procedure has its special tricks and difficulties. Choose a cosmetic surgeon who has demonstrated an unfailing ability to successfully perform the procedure you are considering. Also, experience is a wonderful teacher and a plastic surgeon who has been practicing for 10 years will obviously have acquired more skill than a surgeon who has only a year or two of experience.
