More Cleveland Men Discovering Benefits of Cosmetic Surgery
Move over girls! Men are discovering the benefits of cosmetic surgery. While women seeking cosmetic surgery still outnumber men by a significant margin, the number of Cleveland men seeking cosmetic surgery has been increasing steadily over the last few years. According to 2010 statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 1.1 million men underwent cosmetic surgery procedures last year.
The biggest gain was in facelifts which increased 14%. Ear-tucks were the second most popular plastic surgery procedure with men. Male interest also increased in liposuction and non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as Botox Cosmetic, Juvederm and other facial fillers used to add volume to the skin and smooth away age-defining facial wrinkles and folds.
Cleveland men give numerous reasons for their increased interest in undergoing both surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures to improve their appearance. At the top of the list is competition in the workplace. People are working longer and retiring later, putting men in late middle age or their senior years in direct competition with much younger rivals. While employers appreciate the experience a more mature man has to offer, obvious signs of age raise questions of energy and longevity. Maintaining a more youthful appearance removes such doubts and gives men the competitive edge they need to compete successfully in the workplace. In their quest to look younger, men are trimming down, dying their hair and turning to cosmetic surgery to banish wrinkles.
Male interest in cosmetic surgery isn’t all work and no play. Men are staying active longer and want to look as young as they feel. Divorce is also pushing men back into the dating game later in life and making them more conscious of their appearance.
