Are You a Good Candidate for Breast Enhancement Surgery?

Breast augmentation surgery is the most-requested cosmetic surgery procedure in the U.S. Breast enhancements are more than 3 times more popular than breast lifts, although the number of breast lifts performed in the U.S. increased by 70% last year. Many women unhappy with the size, shape or positioning of their breasts arrive at their Cleveland plastic surgeon’s office convinced that breast augmentation will give them the figure they desire. These women are often surprised to learn that a breast lift or combination augmentation with lift will more effectively meet their appearance goals.

Breast Enhancement cosmetic surgeryWomen who are dissatisfied with their breasts should discuss their appearance goals with their Cleveland cosmetic surgeon and carefully consider his advice. Bigger is not always better! Adding additional weight and size to a sagging breast can emphasize and even augment a breast’s droopy appearance. To create the flattering, youthful figure you desire, sagging breasts may need to be lifted to return them to their former, youthful height, as well as enlarged to improve firmness and shape.

You may be a good candidate for breast augmentation surgery if:

  • You feel your breasts are too small or that one breast is noticeably smaller than the other.
  • Your clothes do not fit well because your bosom is one size and your hips are another.
  • You are uncomfortable wearing low-cut tops, sundresses, form-fitting tops or swimsuits.
  • Your breasts have lost firmness or changed size due to pregnancy or a major weight loss.

You are a good candidate for a breast lift if:

  • Your breasts have become pendulous due to childbirth or age.
  • Your breasts are flabby rather than firm, often from nursing or weight loss.
  • Your nipples point down instead of straight ahead.
  • One breast is noticeably higher than the other.
  • You are uncomfortable in form-fitting tops, halter dresses or bikinis because your breasts hang below the darts or bosom line.
