Cleveland Cosmetic Surgery: Who’s Having What Done?

Cleveland Cosmetic Surgery Patient AgesCleveland cosmetic surgery isn’t just for people who have reached the wrinkled phase of life. Nearly half the men and women undergoing Cleveland cosmetic surgery are in the prime of life. Annual statistics compiled by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) show a dramatic increase in middle-aged patients.

Here’s the statistical breakdown showing who’s having cosmetic surgery:

  • 1.3% - Age 18 and under
  • 19.7% - Ages 19-34
  • 43.7% - Ages 35-50
  • 28% - Ages 51 to 64
  • 7.3% - 65 and over

Reaching for the top rungs of the corporate ladder, men and women in their middle years are more focused on their appearance. The first wrinkles appear in middle-age and it becomes harder to fight the battle of the bulge. Using cosmetic surgery to maintain a youthful appearance gives men and women the competitive edge they need to reach their career goals. Increased longevity also plays a role. With most Americans living well into their 80s and beyond, middle age is no longer considered “old.” People in mid-life don’t want to spend half their life looking older than they feel; and with cosmetic surgery, they don’t have to!

Looking over the ASAPS statistics, certain procedures, such as Smartlipo TriPlex liposuction and Botox, enjoy universal popularity. Other procedures, such as breast augmentation and facelifts are more popular with certain age groups.
