Baby Boomers Find Fountain of Youth in Cleveland Cosmetic Surgery

Baby Boomers Cleveland Cosmetic SurgeryThe famed 16th century Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon spent the final years of his life scouring Florida in a futile search for the legendary Fountain of Youth. As it turns out old Ponce was hacking through the Florida swamps 500 years too soon! Today’s Baby Boomers have not only discovered the mystical fountain, they are making frequent journeys to the storied wonder to quench their thirst for a younger appearance. However, the miraculous results they are enjoying come not from drinking the magical waters of the fabled fountain but from the skilled hands of an experienced Cleveland cosmetic surgeon.

More than 70 million strong, the Baby Boomer generation is moving into its retirement years but they’re far from ready to throw in the towel.

Healthier, fitter and more active than previous generations, many Boomers expect to work and play well into their 80s and 90s -- and reaching the century mark isn’t out of the question. According to U.S. Census figures, the number of centenarians living in the U.S. has doubled since 1990 and has become one of the fastest growing demographic groups in the U.S. By 2050, some demographers are predicting that nearly 1 million U.S. residents will live past their 100th birthday.

With 20 to 40 more years of life in front of them after they reach retirement age, Boomers consider undergoing a few cosmetic surgery procedures to shave a few years off their appearance or plump up unattractive facial wrinkles a good investment. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons more than 13 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed in the U.S. last year, an increase of 77% over the past 10 years. Non-invasive wrinkle-removing procedures like Botox accounted for nearly half (5.4 million) of the cosmetic procedures performed in 2010. While women are still the biggest consumers of cosmetic surgery, Cleveland cosmetic surgeons say male interest is showing remarkable growth.
