Cosmetic Surgery is Gaining Popularity with Cleveland Men
More Cleveland men are undergoing cosmetic surgery but few of them are willing to admit it.
Although statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) show that male cosmetic surgery procedures have increased by 88% since 1997, most men remain tight-lipped about “having a little work done.” Perhaps men’s silence on the subject of cosmetic surgery can be chalked up to a general masculine reluctance to discuss personal issues. Maybe men feel embarrassed that they need a little help to look good. Or perhaps it’s just vanity.
But fear of what people will think hasn’t stopped men from turning to cosmetic surgery to roll back the clock and rejuvenate and improve their appearance. More men than ever before are showing up in the waiting rooms of Cleveland cosmetic surgeons for Botox treatments, Smart Lipo Triplex body sculpting and numerous other cosmetic surgery procedures. According to ASAPS, in 2010 the most popular male cosmetic surgery procedures were:
- Lipoplasty (liposuction)
- Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping)
- Blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery)
- Gynecomastia (male breast reduction)
- Otoplasty (cosmetic ear surgery)
Rising in popularity were face lifts, neck lifts, brow lifts and tummy tucks. The most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure for men was Botox to banish wrinkles and age lines. Dr. Vicente Poblete of the Cleveland Clinic has noticed such a tremendous increase in interest and demand for male cosmetic surgery that he created a Men’s Guide to Cosmetic Surgery to answer the questions most frequently asked by his male patients.
