Did the Sexiest Man Alive Get a Little Help from Cosmetic Surgery?

Cleveland eyelid surgeryNamed People’s Sexiest Man Alive more than once, actor George Clooney has regularly appeared on magazine and internet lists of Hollywood’s sexiest men since leaving the hit television series ER to make his mark as one of Tinsel Town’s most bankable stars. Clooney is one of the men other men confess they want to look like when they undergo cosmetic surgery. But at age 50 George’s perennial good looks may come from undergoing a little cosmetic surgery of his own.

In 2007, only a year after being named People’s Sexiest Man Alive for the second time, Clooney reportedly admitted to Ocean’s 11 & 12 co-star Julia Roberts during a pre-Oscar special that he had undergone cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). According to a widely quoted 2007 article that appeared in the London Telegraph, Clooney told Roberts, “I had my eyes done. Can you tell? I think it’s important to look awake.”

While Clooney, who is known as a bit of a prankster, may have been joking, blepharoplasty does make people look more alert, less tired and definitely younger. A common cosmetic surgery procedure that is popular with both men and women, cosmetic eyelid surgery removes excess skin above the eyelid fold that may have begun to droop over the eyes and block the individual’s vision. Blepharoplasty can also eliminate the age-defining baggy skin that begins to collect under the eyes as we age, causing the appearance of “dark circles” under the eyes.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Clooney, now 50, needed a little help to maintain his still sexy good looks. After all, he’s a Hollywood actor; he only looks like a god. And he wouldn’t be the first -- or last – male celebrity to ask his cosmetic surgeon for a little help; but he is one of the few to admit it!
