What Credentials Should Your Cleveland Cosmetic Surgeon Have?

When choosing a
Cleveland cosmetic surgeon
,
who
you choose to perform your surgery will have a significant impact on the quality of the results and your satisfaction with your
cosmetic surgery experience
. Always ask about the cosmetic surgeon’s professional credentials as his credentials will provide you with a good indication of his abilities and commitment to his patients.
When choosing a Cleveland cosmetic surgeon, select one with the following credentials:
Board certification.
For your safety and protection, it is imperative that you choose a board-certified plastic surgeon to perform your procedure. The
Cleveland plastic surgeon
you select should be certified not only in general surgery but also in the highly specialized field of plastic surgery. Like all medical specialties, cosmetic surgery requires additional education and practical experience in the performance of complex cosmetic surgery procedures. Certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties is the patient’s guarantee that the Cleveland cosmetic surgeon has completed the required courses of study and has proven his competency to perform cosmetic surgery procedures.
Membership in professional societies.
At minimum, your cosmetic surgeon should be a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the most recognized professional society for cosmetic surgeons. There are other professional groups with similar-sounding names but they do not have the professional respect or carry the prestige of the ASPS. Membership in ASPS assures patients that their physician has competed adequate training, is dedicated to continuing his education to stay abreast of new developments in the field of cosmetic surgery, and subscribes to a code of ethics that protect the health and welfare of his patients. Superior Cleveland cosmetic surgeons like Dr. Vicente Poblete will also be members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the profession’s most elite society.
